  • Greece is located in Southeastern Europe. It is
    4,900 miles from Baltimore.
  • Greece is part of a peninsula. It is surrounded
    by water on three sides. Almost all Greek land is
    near the coastline.
  • Greece has many mountains. The mountains are good
    for protection from enemies, but they are not
    good for farming.
  • CITIES IN ANCIENT GREECE
  • Athens was the most powerful city-state in
    Ancient Greece.
  • Life in Athens was free and open. Young children
    went to school, and individual rights were
    respected. Athens is the capital of Greece.
  • Sparta was another powerful city.
  • Life in Sparta was harsh. Young children were
    trained to fight, and people were expected to put
    the citys needs before their own.
