AVID
  • Advancement Via Individual Determination

2
What AVID is?
  • AVID is a program for the middle to upper
middle academic students. These students have
the potential for honors and AP work in high
school, but need academic or other support paired
with this rigorous curriculum. AVID is a program
to help students achieve their goal of acceptance
    into a four year university.

3
What AVID is?
  • AVID combines rigor with support that includes
the students own individual determination and
the support of teachers, other AVID students and
their families, the AVID teacher, and tutors.
  • Students must maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA
    throughout the school year.

4
What AVID is Not?
  • AVID is not an at risk program. It is a program
designated to support students, who may not
otherwise attend a four year university, to
attend and to graduate from a four-year school.
  • AVID is not for students who dont do any of
    their homework.
  • AVID is not a study hall.

5
What AVID is Not?
  • AVID is not for the consistently D or F
    student.
  • AVID is not a program for unmotivated students.
    They must have Individual Determination.
  • AVID is not a magical cure! It is a tool to help
    students succeed!
