History
  • Galle and d Arrest first observed Neptune
which was on September 23, 1846. But two
    centuries earlier Galileo discovered it.
  • The weather in Neptune is very chilly and
    cold. Its -218 degrees-Celsius!

3
Solar System
  • Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun.
  • The orbital period for one trip around the sun
    is 165 years.
  • Neptunes rotation period is about 16.11 hours.

4
Moons
  • In late 2013 Neptune has discovered 14 moons so
far. But that is not the end of Neptunes moons
    discoveries.
  • The names of Neptunes moons are Triton,
Nereid, Naiad, Larissa. Thalassa, Neso, Sao,
Galatea and Halimede ,Despina, Laomedeia. Proteus
and last but not least Psamathe.

5
Neptunes Appearance
  • Neptunes appearance is very entertaining with
all the detail. Its color is a mix of blue and
green. It has a faint ring system that goes
around the whole thing, its like a perimeter
going around a shape. Neptune has a dark spot
which is very similar to Jupiters red spot.

6
Rings
  • Neptunes has a very large ring system. There
are only about nine clearly seen rings. Neptune
is one of the four planets in our Solar System
    that has planetary rings.

7
Exploration
  • Neptune has 13 known satellites, they are named
for aquatic personages in Greek and Roman
mythology. For instance these six moons Despina,
Galatea, Larissa, Thalassa, Naiad and Proteus.
Were found by Space Craft two!

8
Interesting Facts
  • Did you know that Neptune is the
fourth-largest by diameter and third- largest in
    mass.
  • Neptune is the most dense planet in the solar
    system.
