    which could have been made by someone you should
    have heard of.
  • I like to be well turned out and presentable
  • I enjoy my mountain top house, especially the
    view
  • I feel that I have helped people
  • As leader of my country I have had many criminals
    arrested
  • I have made sure that top grade roads cross the
    country
  • Jobs are important, and I have invested lots of
    money to make millions of jobs
  • My country is now very well respected across the
    whole world
  • People have described me as a hero and a saviour
  • Young people adore me
  • I enjoy playing with my dog
  • I do not smoke or drink
  • I am a vegetarian

Early life
  • Adolf Hitler was born on 20th April 1889 in
    Austria.
  • The young Hitler was a good student in elementary
    school. However he had a poor record at high
    school and left, before completing his tuition.
  • Hitler had a troubled childhood, as his father
    was violent to him and violent towards his mother.

Early career
  • Hitler had an ambition to become an artist and
    moved to Vienna to fulfil his dream
  • The Vienna Academy of Art rejected his
    application.
  • He drifted in and out of jobs and sold some of
    his paintings or advertising posters whenever he
    could.
  • It was in Vienna that his hatred for the Jews
    developed as Vienna had a large Jewish community.

Hitler and World war one
  • The outbreak of the First World War provided him
    with an opportunity for a fresh start. It was a
    chance for him to become involved in proving that
    Germany was superior to other European countries.
  • Hitler claimed that when he heard the news of
    war "I was overcome with impetuous enthusiasm,
    and falling on my knees, wholeheartedly thanked
    Heaven that I had been granted the happiness to
    live at this time.
  • Rejecting the idea of fighting for Austria,
    Hitler volunteered for the German Army.

  • Hitler won five medals including the prestigious
    Iron Cross during the First World War.
  • In October 1918, Hitler was blinded in a British
    mustard gas attack. He was sent to a military
    hospital.
  • While he was in hospital Germany surrendered.
    Hitler went into a state of deep depression

The Nazi Partys Rise to Power 1928-1933
  • In 1928 Hitlers Nazi Party were a small,
    insignificant party. They enjoyed little success
    in elections.
  • By 1933 Hitler was the chancellor of Germany.
  • The Nazis had risen from obscurity to power,
    total power.

Who was Adolf Hitler?
  • Leader of the Nazi Party he was very popular and
    became very powerful GERMAN DICTATOR!
  • Hitler came to power as Chancellor in 1933
    promising to make Germany great again
  • The Nazis controlled the TV, radio, newspapers
    and films - they broadcast pro-Nazi messages and
    criticised their opponents
  • Had army SA (Stormtroopers) to terrorise and
    lock up anyone who opposed the Nazis ideas

  • Hitler had his own personal army the SS to
    protect him
  • Secret police (Gestapo) who spied on everyone,
    this led to fear and suspicion
  • Created an idea that the Aryan race (blue eyed,
    blonde hair) was superior to everyone else
  • Saw the Jews as a problem or a threat that
    needed a solution

  • In pairs put the factors effecting Hitlers rise
    to power into order of importance. (Think
    carefully about the order that you have placed
    them in. You may decide that some of them are of
    equal significance)
