  • Hypothesis Stress reduces pain
  • Basic design Two groups of people will receive
    painful shocks. One group will be stressed while
    receiving shocks other wont

    Offered 200 for 1 hr of participation.
  • Students sign in on sheet with age, weight and
    gpa of all participants.
  • Students told shocks would be mild, like a sharp
    pin-prick. In fact shock was painfully intense.
  • Students told theyd be watching movies to see
    what happened to pain perception when
    distracted or not.

  • Some students (stress group) saw movies with real
    gore. Other group saw bland documentary.

  • May be intentional or unintentionalin both
    cases, it is punishable and may be career-
    ending.
  • It is, therefore, important to understand it in
    order to avoid it.

    a speeding ticket
  • It is a type of cheating. APA ethics forbids it,
    and so does CSUB.
