Mongol Takeover (1271-1368)

• Mongol leader Genghis Khan (Tiemuzhen) overthrew
  the native Chinese rulers in power of Xixia and
  the Jin Dynasty.
• His grandson, Kublai Khan, established the Yuan
  Dynasty in 1271 with what is now Beijing
  (Yuandadu) as the capital.
