Notable Events
  • Ruled by Genghiz Khan and conquered much of
    central Asia and Europe
  • 1276- Kublai Khan captured the capital of the
    Southern Song and unified the Empire
  • The Yuan drama form of literature was considered
    another heritage of Chinese literature
  • 1367- rebel armies led by Zhu Yuanzhang captured
    the Yuan capital, ending the dynastys rule

Contact with other cultures
  • Marco Polo visited China during the Yuan dynasty
    and worked as an official Mongol Ruler
  • Yuan inventions like the magnetic compass, stern
    post rudder, mechanical clock, gunpowder, and
    printing moved to Western cultures.
