Strategic Research Agenda - Infrastructures

• Wind conditions
•  High-quality measurements of wind speed,
  direction and turbulence at various heights and
  positions
•  Extensive measurement campaigns are required in
  complex terrains, forested areas and
  offshore/nearshore environments
• Wind power systems
• Research infrastructure is large and costly
• Joint efforts are required to establish such
  facilities 
• Need for operational verification and
  demonstration of high-risk concepts
• New dedicated wind tunnels for wind energy, and
  keeping existing wind tunnels operational and
  accessible for wind energy research
• New blade test facilities
• Drive train test facilities
• Other component test facilities for extreme
  environmental loading
• Test fields for specific conditions (e.g. high
  wind, turbulent and extreme test conditions)

  cost-effective and reliable power systems

Current FP7 call

• Topic INFRA-2010-1.1.23
• Research Infrastructures for offshore renewable
  energy devices ocean-, current-, wave- and wind
  energy. A project under this topic should aim at
  integrating the key research infrastructures in
  Europe for research on marine current power,
  tidal stream energy, tidal power, wave power,
  open questions concerning the transfer of energy,
  grid integration. This topic will support the
  European Strategic Energy Technology Plan
  (SET-Plan, COM (2007)723)
