Mateo 213-15, 19-23
13 Después de que los Magos partieron de Belén,
el ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a
José y le dijo Levántate, toma al niño y
a su madre, y huye a Egipto. Quédate allá
hasta que yo te avise, porque Herodes va a
buscar al niño para matarlo.

14 José se levantó y esa misma noche tomó al
niño y a su madre y partió para Egipto,
15 donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Herodes.
Así sé cumplió lo que dijo el Señor por medio del
profeta De Egipto llame a mi hijo.

19 Después de muerto Herodes, el ángel del Señor
se le apareció en sueños a José
20 y le dijo Levántate, toma al niño y a
su madre y regresa a la tierra de Israel,
porque ya murieron los que intentaban quitarle la
vida al niño.

21 Se levantó José, tomó al niño y a su madre
y regresó a tierra de Israel.
22 Pero, habiendo oído decir que Arquéalo reinaba
en Judea en lugar de su padre, Herodes, tuvo
miedo de ir allá, y advertido en sueños, se
retiró a Galilea,

23 y se fue a vivir en una población llamada
Nazaret. Así se cumplió lo que habían dicho los
profetas Se llamara Nazareno.

13 When the Magi had departed, behold, the
angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream
and said, Rise, take the child and his
mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until
I tell you. Herod is going to search for the
child to destroy him.

14 Joseph rose and took the child and
his mother by night and departed for Egypt.
15 He stayed there until the death of Herod,
that what the Lord had said through the prophet
might be fulfilled, Out of Egypt I called my
son.

19 When Herod had died, behold, the angel of
the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt
20 and said, Rise, take the child and
his mother and go to the land of Israel, for
those who sought the child's life are dead.

21 He rose, took the child and his
mother, and went to the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling
over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was
afraid to go back there. And because he had
been warned in a dream, he departed for the
region of Galilee.

23 He went and dwelt in a town called
Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through
the prophets might be fulfilled, He shall be
called a Nazorean.

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family. It gives
us the opportunity to study the relationship
between St. Joseph, Our Lady, and Jesus,
so that we can benefit and find ways to
improve our family life.

Hoy es la fiesta de la Sagrada Familia. Nos da
la oportunidad de estudiar la relación entre San
José, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, y
Jesucristo, para así encontrar algo de beneficio
espiritual para las familias.

The core of biblical truth about St. Joseph is
found in Matthew 120-21. The Angel said
Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary
your wife, for that which is conceived in her is
of the Holy Spirit She will bear a son, and
you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save
his people from their sins.

El centro de la verdad bíblica acerca de San José
se encuentra en Mateo 120-21. El ángel dice
José, hijo de David, no temas tomar Maria como
tu esposa, porque lo que está concebido en ella
es del Espíritu Santo Dará a luz a un hijo, y
le llamaras Jesús, porque salvara a su pueblo
de sus pecados.

He awoke from sleep, and did as the angel of
the Lord commanded him and took Mary as his
wife (Matthew 124). John Paul II, (On the
Person and Mission of St. Joseph, August 15,
1989), said From then on, he accepted Our
Lady in all the mystery of her motherhood. He
showed a readiness of will like Marys with
regard to what God asked of him through an angel.

Se levantó, y hizo lo que el ángel del Señor
le había mandado, y tomó a Maria como su
esposa (Mateo 124). Juan Pablo II, (Acerca de
la Persona y Misión de San José, día 15 de
Agosto, 1989), dijo De ese momento en
adelante, él recibió a Nuestra Señora con todo
su misterio de ser madre. Mostró que estaba
listo en su voluntad igual que la Virgen Maria
acerca de lo que Dios le había pedido por medio
del ángel.

The Holy Father goes on to say that the mystery
of the Incarnation was shared with no other
human being except Mary. He shared with her
he was involved in the same salvific event he
was the guardian of the same love. It is so
important to share the mystery of our own
salvation, our own pilgrimage of faith, with
Our Lady, and good holy St. Joseph.

El Santo Padre nota que el misterio de la
Encarnación fue compartido con ninguna otra
persona excepto Maria. Lo compartió con ella
se involucró en el mismo acontecimiento de
salvación. Él fue el guardián del mismo amor.
Es tan importante compartir el misterio de
nuestra propia salvación, de nuestra
peregrinación de fe, con Nuestra Señora, y con
el bueno y santo San José.

Praying the holy rosary daily is a good way to
do it. We can also share with others we love.
Family is about sharing our most intimate
moments.

modo de hacerlo. Podemos compartir con otros que
amamos. Ser familia se trata de compartir
nuestros más íntimos momentos.

St. Joseph is also the first guardian of the
Mystery of the Incarnation. He shares in the
faith of the Mother of God he supports her in
the faith of the divine annunciation. Both
believed it was true, and together expected the
fulfillment of all the prophecies regarding
Jesus, their son.

San José es el primer Guardián del Misterio de
la Encarnación. Él comparte en la fe de la
Madre de Dios, la soporta en la fe en la divina
anunciación. Ambos creyeron que era cierto,
y juntos esperaban el cumplimiento de todas las
profecías acerca de Jesús, su hijo.

God shared his fatherly authority over Jesus with
St. Joseph. He also gave him a corresponding
love. This love has its origins in the Father
from whom every family in heaven and on earth
is named (Ephesians 315). In the same way God
shares his fatherhood with all the fathers of our
families here on earth. How great a
responsibility for fathers to exercise loving
authority over their children!

Dios compartió su autoridad paternal sobre Jesús
con San José. También le concedió el amor
correspondiente. Este amor tiene sus origines en
el Padre celestial de quien toda familia en el
cielo y la tierra son nombrados (Efesios
315). En la misma manera Dios comparte su
paternidad con todos los padres de familia aquí
en la tierra. Que grande responsabilidad
tienen los padres de ejercitar su autoridad
amorosa sobre sus hijos!

And she shared her secret of her pregnancy with
St. Joseph. With the passing of days and
weeks Marys pregnancy is visible to the people
as it is to Joseph. He protects this astonishing
motherhood until his birth. And he protects
the child Jesus after his birth.

Y ella compartió el secreto de su embarazo con
San José. Con el pasar de días y semanas el
embarazo de Maria fue visible tanto al pueblo
como a José. El protegió esta maternidad
maravillosa hasta su nacimiento. Y él protegió
al niño Jesús después de su nacimiento.

John Paul II notes how the silence of Joseph has
its own eloquence, for thanks to that silence
we can understand the truth of the Gospels
judgment that he was a just man. Above
all, he shows the characteristics of a husband.
Our Lady was a virgin betrothed to a man
named Joseph (Luke 127). Even before the
mystery hidden for ages (Ephesians 39) was
revealed, Our Lady and St. Joseph were
husband and wife.

Juan Pablo II nota como el silencio de José tiene
su elocuencia. Porque gracias a ese silencio
podemos comprender la verdad del juzgamiento del
Evangelio que él era un hombre justo. Sobre
todo, muestra las características de un
esposo. Nuestra Señora era una virgen
prometida a un hombre llamado José (Lucas
127). Hasta antes de que se revelara el
misterio escondido desde siempre (Efesios 39),
Nuestra Señora y San José eran hombre y
mujer.

Joseph expressed his complete self-sacrifice by
his generous love for the mother of God, and for
his son Jesus. Let us do the same!

San José expresó su sacrificio de sí mismo
completamente por razón de su amor para la Madre
de Dios, y por su hijo Jesucristo. Vamos hacer
lo mismo!
