• Please complete the course evaluation before the
  final exam (January 16).

Art of Film final examination

• Section A. Film Analysis (Recommended writing
  time 30 minutes) 30.
• A.1. A short film clip will be screened for you
  three times. Write a short essay on this clip
  relating how elements of film form and
  style--mise-en-scène, framing, editing, and
  sound--convey and shape the portrayed story.
• Section B. Essay (Recommended Writing Time 45
  minutes) 40.
• Answer any ONE of three proposed questions.
• Section C. Short Answer (Recommended Writing
  Time 60 minutes) 30.
• Answer any SIX of ten proposed questions.
• Your answers should demonstrate your precise
  comprehension of the vocabulary and concepts
  presented in Film Art and in the Sourcebook
  readings. Whenever possible, illustrate your
  answers with examples from films screened for the
  course. Do not concentrate on the same one or
  two films for each question. Credit will be
  given for referring to a broad range of films in
  this section of the exam.

Concentration in Film Studies

• Honors Only 14 half-courses
• Required Courses
• Introductory Courses (three required)
• The Art of Film
• Silent Cinema
• Sound Cinema
• Advanced Courses
• Six (or seven) half-courses directly related to
  film and visual studies. 
• At least two of these advanced courses must be
  advanced Film Studies seminars.
• Interdisciplinary Courses
• Two (or three) half-courses in other departments
  that provide pertinent interdisciplinary
  perspectives to Film Studies but are not courses
  whose main emphasis is film related. 
• Electives
• Students who choose not to write a thesis will
  instead take two additional advanced film studies
  courses (these choices are subject to the
  approval of the Director of Undergraduate
  Studies).

• Either Silent Cinema or Sound Cinema
• One course in film theory
• Three additional courses in Film Studies
• N.B. Only one Core class may count toward a
  secondary field and the Core.
