• Road transport

1. opening of the domestic road freight transport
market (following the practice of the EU
between 1994 and 1998, along with the
introduction of a gradually increasing permit
contingent) 2. vehicle taxation (for
environment-friendly (Euro 2 and 3) trucks
exceeding a gross weight of 25 tons applying
a lower minimum (65) tax level than
stipulated by Community legislation) 3. axle
load (to maintain the excess weight charge on
trucks with an axle load exceeding 10 tons)

• We have successfully accomplished our legal
  harmonisation program relating to year 2000,
  and 2001 proportionately
• We have carefully watched the preparation of the
  new transport policy of the EU
• This spring we started the revision of the
  Hungarian transport policy adopted in 1996
• Our transport policy and water management
  concept will be presented to the Government in
  a few weeks
