    of the Holy Priesthood today.
  • Only those who by sovereign mercy are
a chosen generation, a royal priesthood
have the privilege to appreciate the spiritual
    significance of these symbolic truths.

2. Its Dimensions
  • "Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood
two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a
cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half
    the height thereof" 2X 1X 1 ½
  • The same height as the Ark, though it fell short
    of its length and breadth.
  • Our communion with God may rise to the level of
our understanding of the two natures in the
    person of Christ.
  • Yet there is a breadth or fullness of perfection
in Him which we presently fail to comprehend and
    enjoy.
  • The length of the Table was two cubits.
  • Number 2 speaks of communion"How can two walk
together except they be agreed?" (Amos 33).
  • The breadth of the Table was one cubit, which
speaks of unity, for unity is important for
    fellowship.

13
3. Its Decoration.
  • And thou shall overlay it with pure gold, and
make thereto a crown of gold round about. And
thou shall make unto it a border of a
hand-breadth round about, and thou shall make a
golden crown to the border thereof round about"
  • Crown Glorified Christ Heb 29 1 Pet 54
  • Crowned border Protection Absolute security
    Num 47
  • Border of handbreadth all else in cubits.
  • "Neither shall any pluck them out of My hand" Jn
    1028
  • Christ, the Table, maintains the believer before
God Christ, the border, secures him there. The
border too has a crown as well as the Table. Both
sustenance and security are the blessings we
    enjoy through Christ. John 1028

14
4. Its contents
  • "And thou shall set upon the table show-bread
    before Me always
  • This showbread consisted of twelve loaves or
cakes, made of fine flour baked, and placed in
two rows upon the Table, on which was sprinkled
    pure frankincense for a memorial.
  • Here they remained before the Lord for seven
days, after which they were removed and eaten by
Aaron and his sons, in the holy place (Lev245-9).

15
  • The table and the bread are closely connected.
  • Yet they have a distinctive significance.
  • They are considered separately - Hebrews 92
  • A close parallel is found in 1 Cor 1021 and
    1120
  • the Lords table (10 21), the Lords supper
    (11 20).
  • The one speaking of the character of our
    fellowship,
  • The other the substance of our fellowship.
  • The Table points to the person of Christ as the
Sustainer of fellowship between God and His
    saints.
  • The bread directs our thoughts to Christ as the
    Substance of it.

16
  • The bread points to Christ Himself.
  • (Heb)Lechem Panim bread of the presence
  • (Gk) Prothesis Artos bread of presentation.
  • Bread was before the face of God always.
  • Tells of His acceptance In whom Father delights
  • Lev 245 Heb. Challoth perforated cakes.
  • Fine flour ? perfect humanity , absolute
    sin-lessness
  • Baked ? Christ exposed to Gods judgment.
  • No. 12 points to 12 Tribes represented.
  • Representation involves representative.
  • Christ identify himself with Gods covenant
    people.
  • PureFrankincense sweet fragrance of Christ to
    God.

17
  • The striking passage in the New Testament. Brings
out the identification of the Lord with His
    people and they with Him.
  • "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not
the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread
which we break, is it not the communion of the
body of Christ? For we being many are one bread,
and one body for we are all partakers of that
    one bread" (1 Cor. 1016, 17).
  • The twelve loaves then speak of Christ in
    immediate connection with His people.

18
  • The cakes were all of the same quality, size and
weight, showing that the smallest tribe was
    represented equally with the greatest.
  • Two rows tells each one would be seen equally as
much as another. Even the least Christian, is
accepted in Christ and are represented by Christ.
  • As Gods covenant people, we have an equal
standing and an equal nearness to Him.
