- Go to the following link and add it to your
Favorites list. - Lexile.com website
3Find Titles Needing Lexiling
- In Cataloging, use your Power Search and use
Fiction BUT NOT Lexile in the fields. - This gives you a list of fiction titles that need
a Lexile level.
4Working List
- Your volunteers can search for levels on the
Lexile website and then note the levels on the
list. - You can work straight from your cataloging page
if you prefer.

5Start Lexiling
- Perform a search by Call Number starting with FIC
AAA.
6Select a title
7Search for title on website
Speed hint Save time by searching for author with
multiple titles.
8Speed Hint If you are Lexiling new books, you can
scan the ISBN code directly into the search.
9Lexile tips
- If a title search does not produce results, try a
search using authors name. - You can use this search to find titles of books
in particular levels for ordering purposes. - It is not necessary to capitalize to get results.
10Note the Lexile level
11In Cataloging, click on Edit
12Click on Insert
13Type in 521, then Enter
Or click here
14Enter Lexile level, click on Insert Subfield,
type b, Enter.
15Click on No or hit Enter.
16Type Lexile.
Speed Hint Highlight Lexile. then Copy
(control-C). On future records, paste
(control-V).
17Click on first indicator box and type 8, then
Enter.
18You are done. Click on Savethen Close.
