Day was Created First

• And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
  called Night. And the evening and the morning
  were the first day. (Genesis 15 KJV)
• The Light was Created First. Then, the Cycle of
  Day and Night was Started After He had Already
  Made the Light. Day and Night began in the Light.
  In other words Night was not created until after
  the Light. Thus, in the beginning, there was
  evening and then morning.

• "And God called the light Day, and the darkness
  he called Night. And the evening and the morning
  were the first day. (Genesis 15 KJV)
• The Definition for Day in Strongs can be Literal
  or Figurative and is Hebrew Number 3117 yowm,
  yome from an unused root meaning to be hot a
  day (as the warm hours), whether literal (from
  sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the
  next), or figurative (a space of time defined by
  an associated term), (often used adverb)--age,
  always, chronicals, continually(-ance), daily,
  ((birth-), each, to) day, (now a, two) days
  (agone), elder, X end, evening, (for)
  ever(-lasting, -more), X full, life, as (so) long

(Day Light) - so - (Light Day)

• And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
  called Night. And the evening and the morning
  were the first day. (Genesis 15 KJV)
• Light is Called Day so it Would Stand to Reason
  that the Start of the Day Would Also be the Start
  of the Light, or Sunrise. Also, a Note on the
  Gregorian Calendar Which States that the Day
  Starts at Midnight. The very Word Mid-Night Means
  the Middle of the Night, not the Beginning of a
  New Day.

• Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward
  the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the
  other Mary came to look at the grave. (Mathew
  281 NASB)

Morning (Dawn) Comes Prior to Day

• The Definition of Morning in (Genesis 15 KJV)
  from Strongs is Hebrew Number 1242 boqer
  (pronounced bo'-ker) from 1239 properly, dawn
  (as the break of day) generally, morning--()
  day, early, morning, morrow.
• Dawn is the time that marks the beginning of the
  twilight before sunrise. It is recognized by the
  presence of weak sunlight, while the sun itself
  is still below the horizon. Dawn should not be
  confused with sunrise, which is the moment when
  the leading edge of the sun itself appears above
  the horizon.

Evening (Dusk) Comes After Day

• The Definition of Evening in (Genesis 15 KJV)
  from Strongs is Hebrew Number 6153 ereb
  (pronounced eh'-reb) from 6150 dusk-- day,
  even(-ing, tide), night.
• Dusk is the time that marks the beginning of the
  twilight after sunset. It is recognized by the
  presence of weak sunlight, after the sun itself
  is below the horizon. Dusk should not be confused
  with sunset, which is the moment when the
  trailing edge of the sun itself disappears below
  the horizon.

• Something that should be pointed out is the
  chronological order of evening and then morning
  in the verse above. Most say that a day first
  contains morning and then evening. The Bible says
  that there was evening and then there was
  morning. Compare below

Darkness from the 6th to the 9th hour

• And it was the third hour, and they crucified
  him. (Mark 1525 KJV)
• And when the sixth hour was come, there was
  darkness over the whole land until the ninth
  hour. (Mark 1533 KJV)
• It should be noted that it would seem unnecessary
  to mention that there was darkness over the whole
  land unless it was unusual. Probably due to the
  fact that the event happened sometime during the
  daylight hours.

The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard

• The landowner found workers
• - Early in the morning. (Mathew 201)
• - The 3rd hour of the day. (Mathew 203)
• - The 6th hour of the day. (Mathew 205)
• - The 9th hour of the day. (Mathew 205)
• - The 11th hour of the day. (Mathew 206)
• The last workers worked for one hour (Mathew
  2012) before all of the workers retired at the
  end of the day to collect their wages. Making 12
  total working hours. Since the workers could only
  have worked when the sun was shining (Mathew
  2012), we can come to the conclusion that the
  beginning of the day was at sunrise

  it is only the third hour of the day (Acts 215
