view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as
living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis
is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform
any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then
you will be able to test and approve what Gods
will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Corinthians 9 19Though I am free and belong to
no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win
as many as possible. 20To the Jews I became like
a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I
became like one under the law (though I myself am
not under the law), so as to win those under the
law. 21To those not having the law I became like
one not having the law (though I am not free from
Gods law but am under Christs law), so as to
win those not having the law. 22To the weak I
became weak, to win the weak. I have become all
things to all men so that by all possible means I
might save some. 23I do all this for the sake of
the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
15Culturally Appropriate
1 Corinthians 717-24 Nevertheless, each one
should retain the place in life that the Lord
assigned to him and to which God has called him.
This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.
Was a man already circumcised when he was called?
He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man
uncircumcised when he was called? He should not
be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and
uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping Gods commands
is what counts. Each one should remain in the
situation which he was in when God called him.
Were you a slave when you were called? Dont let
it trouble youalthough if you can gain your
freedom, do so. For he who was a slave when he
was called by the Lord is the Lords freedman
similarly, he who was a free man when he was
called is Christs slave. You were bought at a
price do not become slaves of men. Brothers,
each man, as responsible to God, should remain in
the situation God called him to.
16Culturally Appropriate
Matthew 23 8But you are not to be called
Rabbi, for you have only one Master and you are
all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth
father, for you have one Father, and he is in
heaven. 10Nor are you to be called teacher, for
you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11The greatest
among you will be your servant. 12For whoever
exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever
humbles himself will be exalted. 13Woe to you,
teachers of the law and Pharisees, you
hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in
mens faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor
will you let those enter who are trying
to. 15Woe to you, teachers of the law and
Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land
and sea to win a single convert, and when he
becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of
hell as you are.
17Culturally Appropriate
Amos 5 21 I hate, I despise your religious
feasts I cannot stand your assemblies. 22 Even
though you bring me burnt offerings and grain
offerings, I will not accept them. Though you
bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have
no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of
your songs! I will not listen to the music of
your harps. 24 But let justice roll on like a
river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
18Five-Fold Ministry
Ephesians 411-12 11It was he who gave some to
be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
12to prepare Gods people for works of service,
so that the body of Christ may be built up
13until we all reach unity in the faith and in
the knowledge of the Son of God and become
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the
fullness of Christ.
