Plot Summary
  • Elizabeth Minton has returned home to live with
    her older brother, Henry. Henry is very stiff,
    mathematical. He is very concerned with
    directions and punctuality Elizabeth is not. On
    a routine walk along the ocean Elizabeth drops
    her broach pin into the rocky shoreline. The tide
    is coming in fast and strong and Elizabeth is
    worried the waves will sweep her pin away. She
    imagines Henry going onto the rocks to save the
    pin and a great wave crashing and sweeping him
    away.
