Title: Two Tales of One City
1Two Tales of One City
- Myths Truths Regarding Gun Control
2A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens It was
the best of times, it was the worst of times, it
was the age of wisdom, it was the age of
foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was
the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of
Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the
spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
3we had everything before us, we had nothing
before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we
were all going direct the other way-- in short,
the period was so far like the present period,
that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on
its being received, for good or for evil, in the
superlative degree of comparison only.

62nd Amendment
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free State, the right of the people
to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
7I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole
people. To disarm the people is the best and most
effectual way to enslave them.
George Mason
8So these are the people who stand at the front
lines, guarding America against its lunatic mass
murderers? Clerks at Wal-Mart. Clerks at sporting
goods stores. Minimum-wage cashiers . . . .
9Firearms stand next in importance to the
constitution itself. They are the American
people's liberty teeth and keystone under
independence from the hour the Pilgrims landed
to the present day, events, occurrences and
tendencies prove that to ensure peace security
and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally
indispensable the very atmosphere of firearms
anywhere restrains evil interference they
deserve a place of honor with all that's good.
George Washington
10Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm
only those who are neither inclined nor
determined to commit crimes... Such laws make
things worse for the assaulted and better for the
assailants they serve rather to encourage than
to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be
attacked with greater confidence than an armed
man.
Thomas Jefferson
11Are we at last brought to such humiliating and
debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted
with arms for our defense? Where is the
difference between having our arms in possession
and under our direction and having them under the
management of Congress? If our defense be the
real object of having those arms, in whose hands
can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal
safety to us, as in our own hands?
Patrick Henry
12The supposed quietude of a good man allures the
ruffian while on the other hand arms, like laws,
discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in
awe, and preserve order in the world as property.
The same balance would be preserved were all the
world destitute of arms, for all would be alike
but since some will not, others dare not lay them
aside Horrid mischief would ensue were the
law-abiding deprived of the use of them.
Thomas Paine
13Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will
plow for those who do not.
Thomas Jefferson
14The down-side of gun control is genocide.
There have been at least seven major genocides in
the 20th century, involving 50-60 million
victims, using conservative estimates. In every
case, a gun control law was in force before the
genocide began.

16Objective 1 The disbanding of all national
armed forces and the prohibition of their
reestablishment in any form whatsoever other than
those required to preserve internal order and for
contributions to a United Nations Peace Force
17A world effectively controlled by the United
Nations is one in which world government would
come about through the establishment of
supranational institutions, characterized by
universal membership and some ability to employ
physical force. Effective control would thus
entail a preponderance of political power in the
hands of a supranational organization rather than
in individual units, and would assume the
effective operation of a general disarmament
agreement.

tyranny. When the government fears the people
there is liberty.
