Motives for Reading

• Comprehend Information

• Reading is a process in which all meaning resides

  find it?

Reading Process

• Linear- information flows from the text to the
  reader (p.43)
• Recursive- information is a two way transaction
  between the reader and text reader interprets,
  reflects questions information, and writes while
  reading (p.44)
• Dialectical Thinking- back and fourth movements
  between creative critical thoughts trying to
  answer questions a reader might encounter

Reading Images

• Look closely- appeal to sight
• Find the subject- particular visual subject
• Understand context genre- interpretation of
  image
• Whats the story?
• Interaction of words pictures
• Inquiry based writing reading should begin with
  a sense of wonder not What should I say? but
  What do I think? What does this mean to me?-
