2Think of someone you really love and admire
3Think of someone who means a lot to you
4Someone who has done a lot for you
5Someone who is kind.. Gentle.. Patient..
Compassionate
6Can you think of such a person?
7Now imagine..
8Imagine a person drawing a picture of that person
9Killing a newborn baby
10Or burning your dog
11and putting that picture where everybody can see
it
12How would you feel?
13Sad ?
14Angry?
15Hurt ?
16Why?
17Is it because you dont want others to think of
such a kind person this way?
18Or is it because you dont think it is their
right to portray him in such a way without
knowing enough about him?
19Our presentation today will be addressing the
following topics
- What the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) means to us
- How we see freedom of expression
- What we have done about the offending cartoons
incident - What our suggestions for future actions are
20One day
21In another incident.
22A last example, this time showing his gentleness
with children is when..
23Freedom of expression first started in the UK
in1688 and in the US in 1776 and in France in 1789
24Freedom of expression was granted by Islam 1440
years ago by the words of Allah in the holly
Qoran and the teachings of the prophet (pbuh)..
25As with modern laws of Europe and America, there
are restrictions to freedom of expression it
simply stops when you are offending or hurting
other peoples feelings or sacred symbols.
26 We were both happy and surprised to hear the
news about the Cultural Editor of the Danish
newspaper Jyllands-Posten who was sent on
indefinite leave because he was considering
publishing cartoons on the holocaust
27Happy because we agree on the principle that
offence to others should not be tolerated
28And surprised because the incident of the
offending cartoons was not handled the same way..
29Actually we werent just surprised, to say the
least we found it very strange and totally biased.
30For the last part we, as students would like to
talk to you about what we have done and what we
would like to ask for
31Last year.
32What we demand a similar law to that of the
holocaust banning journalists and media people
from offending sacred symbols, not just those of
Muslims, but those of any religious sect or
belief.
33We would also like to invite you, the rest of
Denmark, the rest of Europe and the western world
to read about the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from an
objective point of view.
34We are sure that then you will understand why.
35We love prophet Muhammad
36Thank youTAC )
