- Spend 5-10 minutes reading the transcript extract
- Concentrate on identifying the speakers positive
and negative experiences - Watch out for cues did the interview identify

- Identify two themes where service improvement may
be made - Give a rationale for your choices

10Practical Exercise 3
- Work as group
- Decide who you will get involved to make your
service improvements - Identify how you will support those people
- Discuss what you may need to do to ensure that
service improvements are made - Feedback to facilitator
11For service improvement to happen
- Dont try to change the world overnight
- Choose the easy to do work first and leave the
harder to do stuff until you have clear plans and
commitments to support it - Dont reinvent the wheel
- Make the most of colleagues with
- a genuine interest and enthusiasm in helping
to affect change - a can be done outlook involve them and
managers and staff who work in the areas where
service improvements are indicated - Make discussions about potential service
improvements and how to develop them as broad as
possible and be listen to peers and colleagues
