Conference Time
  • 830 915 by appointment only
  • Please wait for us in the front office. We
    prefer to meet together to discuss your childs
    needs.

School Wide Rules
  • Follow directions quickly
  • Raise your hand for permission to speak
  • Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat
  • Make smart choices
  • Keep your dear teacher happy

General Information
  • Library is on Mondays
  • Students enter the classroom at 800, and class
    begins immediately. The tardy bell rings at
    820,.
  • Please send absence notes with your child
    following each absence.
  • Student planners are provided to each student by
    PTO. We will use these planners daily please
    check it each night for homework and other
    assignments.
  • Please join PTO because your support helps our
    students
  • Field trips
  • 5th grade appreciation
  • Folders, planners,
  • Science Dome
  • Family nights, holiday parties

Transportation
  • You must send a note if your child is going home
    in a different manner, i.e. from bus to walking
    home with a friend, walker riding home with
    friends parent, etc.

Homework Expectations
  • Read 20 minutes each night and have parents sign
    response journal
  • Study or practice Spelling every night to prepare
    for tests on Fridays.
  • Check planner daily for any additional assignments

Grading Guidelines
  • 60 major and 40 minor
  • One week will be given to redo or retake a major
    test for which the student received a failing
    grade.

Reading
  • Reading levels will be inventoried 3 times a year
    to show growth
  • Book groups
  • Response Journal homework each night. They
    will be checked on Friday.

  • Grammar lessons will be integrated with
    whole-group reading focus will change from
    week-to-week based on needs of students
  • Spelling new list given each week. Test at the
    end of each week.

  • Website Pearson Success and First in Math
  • Target Math
  • Curriculum-1st 9 wks-graphing, place value,
    knowledge of operations

Social Studies
  • Social Studies textbook supplemented with History
    Alive
  • Hands-on, interactive learning
  • Begin with geography and end with American
    current events

    a note by Friday, September 28, 2012

SCHOLAR
  • School wide incentive that encourages academic
    achievement and character development
  • Team day is on Tuesday and we wear blue on that
    day

Wednesday Folder
  • Graded papers, notices, and the information sheet
    will be sent home on Wednesday. Please read the
    material, sign the information sheet, and return
    the folder with your child the next day.
  • Any grade below 75 needs to be signed and
    returned.
  • Keep up with grades on Gradespeed.

How you can help your child
  • Establish a set time for homework
  • Check over homework
  • Dont just sign return papers, go over them with
    your child
  • READ EVERY DAY! (at least 30 minutes)
  • Give them responsibilities at home
  • Consequences and rewards for behavior on
    Wednesday folder sheet and work
  • Stay in touch with us! Were here to help!
  • (give us your email if you check it daily)
