2 3- Introduction
- Isthmus Training Institute (ITI), part of the IBS
Group, was founded in 2005 to fulfill the
training requirements of the STCW 1995 convention
and is a company at the service of the
International Maritime Community where a great
spiritual strength is required by all its members
to successfully fulfill all its clients' demands,
even under the utmost of circumstances.
4- Mission of ITI
- Our mission is to prepare an individual for their
professional mariner qualifications to prevent
accidents that can be harmful for the seamen and
the marine environment. Our primary focus is for
students to learn the subject material by seeing,
hearing doing!
5- Vision of ITI
- Our vision is to establish Regional Training
Centers (RTC) worldwide to promote our services
and be able to offer existing or new crewmembers
and shipboard staff the opportunity to receive
quality training and certification to be able to
work onboard vessel.
6- Devotion to Quality
- ITI (an ISO 9001 certified company) is a
Recognized Training Center authorized to conduct
STCW courses under the Panama Flag State
Administration, with a continuously thrive for
excellence and improvement. Our organization
promises to maintain a process of continuous
improvement in order to achieve leadership in the
field of marine education and certification.

8- History of ITI
- August 2005 Isthmus Training Institute received
the authorization form the Panama Maritime
Authority as a Recognized Training Center on
their behalf. 5 courses approved. - September 2005 ITI received our second set of
courses. 5 courses approved. - January 2007- ITI received our third set of
courses. 10 courses approved. - August 2007- ITI received our fourth set of
courses. 10 courses approved. - July 2008 ITI received our fifth set of
courses. 8 courses approved.
9- Maintaining our Policy toward Quality
November 2005- ITI went through the Stage 1
review for the certification under ISO
9000. February 2006 ITI went through the
initail audit and has received its ISO 90012000
certification from SGS. March 2007 ITI went
through the 2nd annual audit and has received its
ISO 90012000 certification from SGS. February
2008 - ITI went through the 3rd annual audit and
has received its ISO 90012000 certification from
SGS.
10- Maintaining our Policy toward Quality
February 2009- ITI went through the
re-certification process for ISO and in addition
upgraded to the new ISO 90012008.
11AMP Approval
- Received full approval in July, 2006.
- In September 2009 will be audited by the AMP and
re-certified to conduct our approved courses for
2 more years.

23- Set up a facility with equipment where the
courses can be properly dictated. - Equipment required for each course.
- Complete the required documentation for approval
as RTC. - Select instructors with TTT Course.
- If no TTT course we can schedule ITI to conduct
the course for the new Instructors.
24- Academic director will travel to RTC and assist
in the creation of ITI RTC. - Train the Instructors and have them certified in
accordance with the STCW. - Assist in organization of the facilities.
- Conduct training with instructors present.
- Facilitate training material for the courses.
25- Regional Training Center Approval
26- Management or Academic Director is responsible
to approve every trainer to act on behalf of ITI.
The prospective trainer shall complete and send
form PRM-F-55 along with the documents requested
on the same form. - Once documents are received the Administrative
Officer will open a file for the prospective
trainer to be approved and will review that all
documentation requested on the form PRM-F-55 is
complete. - If documents are complete, then the
Administrative Officer shall forward the file to
the Academic Director or Manager for its review. - If the review is satisfactory the Academic
Director will proceed with the approval and
advice to the Administrative Officer to prepare
his file as approved trainer.
