Title: Bar Graphs
1Bar Graphs
2Bar Graphs
- Bar graphs are used to show amounts of data.
- How much? How many?
- Example the number of students who have a
birthday in each month.
3A bar graph has an x-axis and a y-axis.
- Y-axis (vertical) shows the scale
- X-axis shows the items being measured.
Y-axis (vertical)
X-axis (horizontal)
4A bar graph uses a scale to show the different
amounts.
5The interval of the scale is how far the numbers
are spaced apart (counting by ones, fives, tens).
The greater your range, the greater your interval
should be.

7How to make a bar graph
- Step 1 Choose a scale. (This goes on vertical
Y-axis) - Step 2 Draw and label the side and bottom of the
graph. (Items being graphed horizontal Y-Axis) - Step 3 Draw a bar on the graph for each item in
the data file. - Step 4 Give the graph a title. The title should
describe the subject of the graph.

Y-axis) - Step 2 Draw and label the side and bottom of the
graph. (Items being graphed horizontal Y-Axis) - Step 3 Draw a bar on the graph for each item in
the data file. - Step 4 Give the graph a title. The title should
