Rosaceae(The Rose Family)
Largest genus Prunus -plums, cherries, peaches,
and apricots
A large family of flowering plants of dicots with
about 2830 different species
Leaves are arranged in spirally pattern
Flowers are showy and have five sepals, five
petals and many spirally arranged stamens.
The Rosaceae family has a cosmopolitan destributi
on. They are found anywhere except Antartica.
The third most economically important family
after pea and grass. Because it produces the most
edible fruit.
Produces many important edible fruits like
apples, pears, blackberries, raspberries,
and strawberries
The bases of the sepals, petals, and stamens are
fused together to form a characteristic cup-like
structure called hypanthium
