Visual Reminders
  • The Lords Supper

A. REMEMBER the Cost
  • 1 Cor. 1123-25 For I received from the Lord what
I also passed on to you The Lord Jesus, on the
night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he
had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is
my body, which is for you do this in remembrance
of me." 25 In the same way, after supper he took
the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in
my blood do this, whenever you drink it, in
    remembrance of me."

3
REMEMBER the Cost...
  • Your former ways of life before Christ.
  • 1 Tim. 113, 15 Even though I was once a
blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I
was shown mercy... Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.
  • Romans 58 But God demonstrates his own love for
us in this While we were still sinners, Christ
    died for us.

4
REMEMBER the Cost...
  • Your former ways of life before Christ.
  • Christs Sacrifice at Calvary for you.
  • 1 John 410 This is love not that we loved God,
but that he loved us and sent his Son as an
    atoning sacrifice for our sins.

5
REMEMBER the Cost...
  • 2 Cor. 521 God made him who had no sin to be sin
for us, so that in him we might become the
    righteousness of God.
  • Ephes. 17 In him we have redemption through his
blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance
with the riches of God's grace

B. RENEW Your Spirit
  • 1 Cor. 1127-32 Therefore, whoever eats the bread
or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy
manner will be guilty of sinning against the body
and blood of the Lord. 28 A man ought to examine
himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of
the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks
without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and
drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many
among you are weak and sick, and a number of you
have fallen asleep. 31 But if we judged
ourselves, we would not come under judgment. 32
When we are judged by the Lord, we are being
disciplined so that we will not be condemned with
    the world.

7
RENEW Your Spirit...
  • Perform a Spiritual Self-examination.
  • 2 Cor. 135 Examine yourselves to see whether you
are in the faith test yourselves. Do you not
realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of
    course, you fail the test?
  • Galatians 64-5 Each one should test his own
actions. Then he can take pride in himself,
without comparing himself to somebody else, for
each one should carry his own load.

8
RENEW Your Spirit...
  • Perform a Spiritual Self-examination.
  • Grow through Gods Loving Discipline.
  • Hebrews 126 because the Lord disciplines those
he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as
a son.... 8 If you are not disciplined (and
everyone undergoes discipline), then you are
illegitimate children and not true sons... 10 Our
fathers disciplined us for a little while as they
thought best but God disciplines us for our
good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No
discipline seems pleasant at the time, but
painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest
of righteousness and peace for those who have
    been trained by it.

9
C. REFLECT His Glory
  • 1 Cor. 1126 For whenever you eat this bread and
drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death
    until he comes.

10
REFLECT His Glory
  • Be Transformed by Christ.
  • 2 Cor. 318 And we, who with unveiled faces all
reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed
into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

11
REFLECT His Glory
  • Be Transformed by Christ.
  • Be Living in Anticipation of Christs Return.
  • Rev. 2212 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward
is with me, and I will give to everyone according
    to what he has done.

12
  • Titus 211-14 For the grace of God that brings
salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches
us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly
passions, and to live self-controlled, upright
and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we
wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing
of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who
gave himself for us to redeem us from all
wickedness and to purify for himself a people
that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
