The purpose of the Tuscaloosa County One-Cent
Temporary Sales Tax was to

• Assist the schools financially to meet an
  unfunded state mandate by the Governor to
  eliminate portable classrooms.
• Improve the quality of education for the students
  of Tuscaloosa County through the construction of
  new, permanent classrooms.

• During a three year time frame, the Tuscaloosa
  County One-Cent Temporary Sales Tax generated
  over 32 million dollars in revenue for the
  Tuscaloosa County School System.
