Why use the seamless option?
  • Familiar with NSLP/SBP
  • Meal pattern
  • Meal service
  • Claim forms
  • Claim all children free
  • Shorter application
  • Less paperwork than SFSP
  • One monitoring visit

Site Eligibility
  • Agency must already participate in NSLP or SBP.
  • Site may be a non-school site.
  • Must also be open to the community
  • Summer school only would stay on NSLP

  • Site must meet the 50 free and reduced guideline
    to participate.
  • Use statistics from NSLP eligibility
  • Provision 2/3 eligible if 50
  • Census data may be used in certain circumstances.

Eligible Participants
  • Children in low-income areas 18 years or younger.
    A person 19 or older that meets the state
    definition of having a physical or mental
    disability is eligible.
  • Children that are normally eligible for SFSP are
    eligible under seamless summer.
  • Any children may come to eat.

Meal Service
  • Serve any combination of two meals per day except
    lunch and supper.
  • Use the regular meal patterns.
  • Follow the NSLP rules.
  • Do not claim second meals.

Monitoring visit in first 3 weeks
  • New sites
  • Non-SFA personnel operating the site
  • Exception for sites reviewed in last 2 years with
    no problems

Reimbursement
  • Free rate for each childs meal
  • 2.47/2.49 lunch/supper
  • 1.35/1.61 breakfast
  • .68 - snack
  • Use severe need breakfast rate at previously
    eligible sites
  • Use specially needy lunch rate if agency-eligible

Reimbursement Process
  • Edit checks not required
  • Submit regular NSLP/SBP claim for reimbursement.
  • Combine claims when 10 days or less operation
  • Cannot combine June and July
  • Different rates

Application/Agreement
  • Review Part I, Combined Agreement and provide
    updates
  • Fill out Part II, Seamless Summer Agreement with
    each sites information.
  • Read Part III and keep for your records.
  • Include copy of Public Release information sent
    to appropriate media

Agreement cont.
  • Approval for the seamless summer through 2008.
  • Submit the application to Child and Adult
    Nutrition Services by April 10.
  • Packets will be sent out very soon.
