that not only manage the catalogue of information
resources but also how different categories of
visitors view these resources. - Sophisticated portals organize information in
channels, customizable page containers where
specific information or applications appears.
Users to these portals have customized
information that may include calendars, to-do

reports, news feeds, searches etc.

32Concluding remarks
- Most traffic is from North America and Europe. On
the website, of the top 10 countries, 5 are from
Europe and 2 from North America accounting for
52 of the traffic. - Looking at the statistics on landing and exit
pages, 63 of the visitors landed on the home
page 41 exited from the home page. This has
caused a review of the home page to create user
paths in order to reduce the bounce rate.
33Concluding remarks current home page vs. new
home page
34Concluding remarks dotmobi site
- According to the International Telecommunication
Union, mobile phone penetration in South Africa
by last year was 92.15. This figure compared to
others (e.g. computers 8.36, internet users
8.16, fixed lines 9.56) provides an enormous
opportunity. - The institution started working on a mobi site in
the 2nd half of 2008 and did a soft launch in
December. The aim is to actively use it within
several of the institutions programmes with
communities
35Concluding remarks dot mobi site
- The sites address http//m.nelsonmandela.org
with www.nelsonmandela.mobi currently being
acquired. - Statistics on the site were tracked from 1st
December 2008 to 28th February 2009 - Not surprising US and Norway visitors account for
52 of the traffic. - Additionally, more than 60 of the traffic either
comes from referring sites or search engines.
