What is Title I?

• Title I is the largest federal aid program for
  our nations schools.
• The goal of Title I is a high quality education
  for every child.
• Title I funds are directed to schools with high
  poverty levels and high academic needs.
• Title I serves all elementary schools in Craven
  County

How does Title I Work?

• Schools having less than 40 of their children on
  free or reduced lunch receive targeted
  assistance.
• Schools with 40 or more of their children on
  free or reduced lunch receive school-wide
  assistance.
• Oaks Road has a School-wide Title I program with
  about 85.3 free or reduced lunch.
• The amount of money received depends on the
  percentage of free or reduced meals.

The Title 1 school works to

• identify students most in need of educational
  help
• set goals for improvement
• measure student progress
• develop programs that add to regular classroom
  instruction
• involve parents in all aspects of the program

As a parent, youre part of the Title 1 team!

• The parent-school compact states the goals and
  responsibilities of both parents and schools.
• The parent involvement policy helps parents
  understand and take part in the schools efforts.

What Can Title I Money Provide?

• Additional teachers and assistants
• Smaller class size
• Additional training for staff
• Extra time for instruction
• A variety of teaching methods and materials
• Counseling and mentoring
