Title: Progress Report

1
Progress Report
  • Nizar R. Mabroukeh
  • nizar_at_ccse.kfupm.edu.sa

2
Contents of a Progress Report
  • A cover page including
  • College Name
  • Dept.
  • Course Title
  • Project Title
  • Name of Student
  • Student ID
  • Project supervisor name

3
Contents of Progress Report
  • Table of contents.
  • Abstract (half a page).
  • Introduction (including background and literature
    survey).
  • Details on design methodology using block
diagrams for hardware design or data flow
    diagrams (DFD) for algorithms.

4
Other important notes
  • A progress report should convey a brief
description of progress done in a form similar to
    an extended summary (4-5 pages).
  • The progress report should relate to action plan
and elaborate on jobs accomplished whether they
are pure literature survey, analysis or actual
    hardware or software design

5
Other important notes
  • It should have sections and subsections.
  • It should include flow charts wherever programs
are involved or detail hardware schematics
    whenever they are ready.
  • A background section. All definitions, theorems,
etc. are provided. Illustrative examples should
    be included.

6
Other important notes
  • A literature survey of existing techniques.
    Includes classification of techniques, detailed
explanation of each technique with illustration
    curves.

7
Other important notes
  • A section on design and implementation. This
should include a detailed design, logic diagrams,
    circuit diagrams, interfacing scheme, algorithms
in notational forms, data flow diagrams,
schematics (schematics should be provided by CAD
tools such as ORCAD and not hand made), etc.

8
Other important notes
  • A section on concluding remarks.
  • Summary of what as been done and future direction
    of work in the area.
