10New Grade Math Curriculum
11A fresh approach to Standards-Based
Instruction. Math expressions and Holt McDougal
combine the most powerful elements of
standards-based instruction with the best of
traditional approaches. Use objects, drawings,
conceptual language, and real-world situations to
help students build mathematical ideas that make
sense to them.
12Focus on Understanding and Fluency Teachers
create and inquiry environment and encourage
constructive discussion. Students invent,
question, and explore, but also learn and
practice important math strategies. Through
daily Math Talk, students explain their methods
and, in turn, become more fluent in them.
