What is APTAC?
  • National Association of the PTACs
  • Members include over 500 dedicated procurement
    professionals
  • National voice of the PTACs and the needs of
    small businesses in the govt marketplace
  • Provides networking, continuing education and
    real-time acquisitions updates for PTAC personnel.

The Procurement Technical Assistance Program
  • Authorized by Congress in 1985 to provide
    technical support to businesses wishing to
    participate in the government marketplace.
  • Administered by DoDs Defense Logistics Agency

Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs)
  • There are currently, 93 Cooperative Agreements
    or PTACs operating nationwide
  • Statewide
  • Regional
  • Native American Tribal
  • Over 250 local offices serving 46 states and
    Puerto Rico

PTAC Assistance for HubZone Clients
  • APTAC and the PTACs work closely with the Hubzone
    businesses owners
  • PTAC staff are knowledgeable about Hubzone
    procurement issues
  • Many PTACs hold special outreach and
    informational events for Hubzone areas.

PTACs offer a wide range of services, many free
of charge, including
  • one-on-one procurement counseling
  • training and outreach on a variety of procurement
    related topics
  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
  • Basics of Government Contracting Payment
  • Military Packaging
  • Proposal Preparation and Review
  • Developing Quality Plans
  • Bidder registrations and certifications
  • Computerized Bid-Match Service
  • Technical specifications and procurement
    histories

Good News!
  • In 2003, PTAC clients were awarded contracts
    totaling 13.328 billion (up from 10.876 in
    2002), creating or retaining 417,425 jobs (up
    from 354,445)
  • With the PTACs funded at a total level of 22.3
    for this time period, this represents a return of
    597.70 for every federal dollar spent on the
    program (up from 585).
