• Born in 1959 in Athens, Ohio

  a sculptor, architect, and artist
• Both of her parents are professors at the
  University of Ohio
• The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is her most notable
  work
• She currently lives in New York and Colorado
• Owns and operates Maya Lin Studio in New York

  construction in Washington, D.C. at the age of 21
• Graduated from the Yale University School of
  Architecture with a B.A. in 1981

Lins Purpose

• Lins inspiration for her work in sculpture and
  architecture comes from her culturally diverse
  background. She also gains inspiration from
  Japanese gardens, the Hopewell Indian earthen
  mounds, and other works from American earthwork
  artists.
