Filtration Processes

• Large Particle Filter
• Removes leaves, twigs, and other large objects in
  the water by a mesh screen
• Sand Filter
• Removes microorganisms and suspended matter from
  the water
• Water entering the pipe flows through the sand
  and gravel and exits through the bottom of the
  pipe
• Sand acts as a filter not allowing particles of a
  certain size through
• Gravel is used as a support medium for the sand

• Charcoal Filter
• Removes trace organic contaminants
• Taste and odor problems can be minimized or
  eliminated
• Charcoal contains carbon, particles passing
  through the charcoal adsorb to the carbon
• Micron Filter
• Filters out any remaining microorganisms
  including bacteria
