2.2 MECHANISM FOR COORDINATION OF GOOS The Black
Sea GOOS Secretariat has been maintained since
December 1, 2001 within the Institute of Marine
sciences of the Middle East Technical
University. A Black Sea GOOS web site have been
established and up dated through out the
contract period. The web address is
http//www.ims.metu.edu.tr/black_sea_goos. The
Black Sea GOOS Plan has been prepared and
published. The Annual Steering Committee
meeting organized and implemented in Ankara
(Turkey) on 16 October 2002. The Secretariat was
active also in collaboration with the
international organizations active in the
region. Within this context links with Black Sea
Environmental Programme (BSEP), Black Sea
Commission Secretariat, EU, and Global
International Water Assessment (GIWA)
strengthened. Further on, consultancy was
provided to the BSEP for the planning of the
activities for the improvement of ecological and
environmental conditions of the Black Sea.
2.3 COORDINATION WITH OTHER GOOS
BODIES Secretariat presented Black Sea GOOS in
the GOOS events. The ones worth mentioning here
are the EuroGOOS annual meeting, GOOS regional
Forum, I-GOOS etc.
