Title: Dr' Martin Luther King' Jr

1
Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr The Publics
Opinion
  • The man people loved to hate.
  • How can he be disliked and loved at the same
    time.
  • To the clergy and govt officials!

2
Humble Yet Strong
  • But American Christians, I must say to you as I
said to the Roman Christians years ago, "Be not
conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind." Or, as I said to the
Phillipian Christians, "Ye are a colony of
heaven." This means that although you live in the
colony of time, your ultimate allegiance is to
the empire of eternity. You have a dual
citizenry. You live both in time and eternity
  • I am afraid that many among you are more
concerned about making a living than making a
life. You are prone to judge the success of your
profession by the index of your salary and the
size of the wheel base on your automobile, rather
than the quality of your service to humanity.

Mistreated and Abused

Still Fighting On!!!
  • Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness
of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly
by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what
happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a
threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an
inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a
single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one
directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can
we afford to live with the narrow, provincial
"outside agitator" idea. Anyone who lives inside
the United States can never be considered an
    outsider anywhere within its bounds.

5
  • The purpose of our direct-action program is to
create a situation so crisis-packed that it will
inevitably open the door to negotiation. I
therefore concur with you in your call for
negotiation. Too long has our beloved Southland
been bogged down in a tragic effort to live in
    monologue rather than dialogue.
  • Was not Jesus an extremist for love "Love your
enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to
them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you." Was not
Amos an extremist for justice "Let justice roll
down like waters and righteousness like an
ever-flowing stream." Was not Paul an extremist
for the Christian gospel "I bear in my body the
    marks of the Lord Jesus."
