  • Its available through the library catalogue

    Refworks or, if possible import the information

  • Endnote is a downloadable piece of software

  • You will need to download the Harvard (UTS) style

Searching the Catalogue
  • The catalogue is a searchable database of all the
    things that the library owns or subscribes to
  • Its useful for finding books, dvds and specific
    journal articles you might be asked to read.
  • Use the keyword search for topic searches
  • Services like BONUS will give you access to more
    books.

  • Journal Articles tend to be of a more limited
    scope than books (ie they are shorter in
    length), however there are more of them and they
    come out more frequently than books.
  • Journal articles can be located in databases
  • Lists of databases good for Property studies are
    included in the Property Economics study guide

  • It covers many areas, but one database that may

  • Authority who is the author? Are occupation,
    experience, credentials, education listed?
  • Affiliation what institution (company,
    government body, university etc.)
  • Validity how true and accurate is the
    information? Is evidence provided?
  • Purpose and Objectivity is it to inform? To
    explain? To persuade?
  • Audience who is the intended audience? Expert
    or novice? Student or practitioner? Consumer or
    researcher?
  • Currency when was the information created or
    last updated?
  • Scope depth of information? How broad is the
    subject area?
  • Uniqueness what does this work offer compared
    to other works including print resources?
