• United States would have to compete for trade
• When the countries of Eastern Europe join, it
  will be much larger.

The conflicts in the Balkans were caused by
ethnic conflict. When communist controlled
Yugoslavia, everyone was accountable to the
communist government. When the Yugoslavians
received their freedom, each ethnic group wanted
self-rule. This led to many conflicts during the
past 10 yrs.
