OSOCC

• On Site Operations Coordination Centre
• In accordance with existing guidelines and
  procedures developed by UN OCHA
• In principle, the OSOCC works for and under the
  UN Resident or Humanitarian Coordinator in
  country
• The task of the OSOCC is to support the host
  country by coordinating the international
  assistance.

• Headed by representative of UN OCHA Geneva
• Supported by United Nations Disaster Assessment
  and Coordination (UNDAC) team members called up
  from other countries
• When host country is EU member EU High Level
  Experts can/will assist

• Tasks in exercise EUDANEX 2006
• Decide on allocation of teams to individual
  incidents (although pre-scripted)
• Monitor feed-back from teams in the field
• Draw up comprehensive picture of disaster
  situation
• Advise the host country authorities on possible
  remedial action
• Be ready to brief media and visitors
