Mission Statement

• The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce
  EnergyWise Initiative aims to inspire and assist
  member businesses in becoming aware of
  sustainable practices and money saving
  technologies, through education and awareness,
  which positively impact our environment.

Future Action Items

• Online Forum Within Chamber website in Energy
  Section, a forum for members to share information
  and help educate each other on energy issues.
• Earth Day Celebration Host the Annual dinner on
  Earth Day to help continue to emphasize the need
  for energy awareness and highlight the Chamber as
  a leader in this effort.
• Spokesperson Have a specific person become the
  voice of the Chamber on energy issues. Utilize
  them in the PSAs and on the website to help brand
  the Chambers energy initiatives and put a
  spotlight on these efforts.
• Continue to seek new and innovative ways to
  improve energy usage and consumption efforts
  Work with other Chambers, cities, etc. to find
  alternative programs and efforts that could be
  utilized in the Grand Traverse Region.

• Setting the air-conditioning 1 degree higher than
  usual can save 3 in cooling costs.
• ENERGY STAR exit signs can save 10 annually in
  electricity costs per sign while preventing
  green house gas emissions.
