- Planning Assistance to States
- Authorized by Section 22 of the Water Resources
Development Act of 1974. - Assist states, local governments and other
non-Federal entities in the preparation of
comprehensive plans for development, utilization
and conservation or water and related land
resources. - Cost shared with local sponsor.
- Limit of 500,000 annually per State/Tribe.

- Project Modifications for Improvement of the
Environment - Authorized by Section 1135 of the Water Resources
Development Act of 1986. - Primary goal is ecosystem restoration with an
emphasis on benefits to fish and wildlife. - For projects where USACE project activities have
contributed to the degradation. - Cost shared with local sponsor.
- Maximum Federal contribution is 5,000,000

- Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration
- Authorized by Section 206 of the Water Resources
Development Act of 1996. - Primary goal is aquatic restoration projects that
will improve the quality of the environment, are
in the public interest and are cost effective. - No requirement for association with a USACE
project. - Cost shared with local sponsor.
- Maximum Federal contribution is 5,000,000

- Beneficial Uses of Dredged Material
- Authorized by Section 204 of the Water Resources
Development Act of 1992. - Primary goal is to provide protection,
restoration and creation of aquatic or wetland
habitat associated with dredging operations for
authorized projects. - Cost shared with local sponsor.
- Maximum Federal contribution is 5,000,000

- Section 205 of the Flood Control Act of 1948
- Section 206 of the Flood Control Act of 1960

- All are cost shared projects with the local
sponsor.
17INTERAGENCY SUPPORT
- Authorized under the Intergovernmental
Cooperation Act. - USACE provides management and technical
assistance to other Federal, State, Local and
Tribal Governments on a reimbursable basis. - Sponsor provides all funding and retains complete
control and legal responsibility for the project. - We work for You!
- Requires an Interagency Agreement or Memorandum
of Agreement - Effectively serves as the contract between
government agencies
