BASIC SAFETY RULES
  • Never do anything that is unsafe in order to get
    the job done.
  • Do not remove or disable any safety device.
  • Never operate a piece of equipment unless you
    have been trained.
  • Use your personal protective equipment whenever
    needed.
  • Obey all safety warning signs.
  • Working under the influence of drugs or alcohol
    is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not bring firearms or explosives on Agency
    property.
  • Smoking is only permitted outside the building
    away from any entry or ventilation intake.
  • Horseplay, running and fighting are prohibited.
  • Clean up spills immediately. Replace all
    supplies after use. Do not allow trash to
    accumulate where they will become a hazard. Good
    housekeeping prevents future accidents.

HOW/WHEN TO REPORT ACCIDENTS
  • Incident an unusual occurrence that did or
    could have resulted in danger to the client,
    staff or visitor.
  • If any of the following happen, report to a
    Vice-President immediately
  • Death
  • Elopements
  • Serious injuries requiring medical treatment
  • Seizures requiring medical treatment
  • Serious behavioral altercations
  • Suspected abuse UCP employees are mandated
    reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect.

HOW / WHEN TO REPORT ACCIDENTS
  • When an incident / accident occurs
  • Report immediately to immediate supervisor
  • Complete Incident / Injury Report Form
  • Forward completed form to the Safety Coordinator
    within 24 hours after the incident

HOW / WHEN TO REPORT ACCIDENTS
  • For incidents not involving major medical care
  • Use the first aid kit provided for your location.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
  • If an employee or client-on-site is involved in
    any type of medical emergency, the
    appropriately-trained personnel should respond.
  • Fluid Spill procedures
  • CPR
  • Other employees will be expected to help as
    needed, but to avoid the emergency area.

REPORTING UNSAFE CONDITIONS AND PRACTICES
  • It is the employees responsibility to report any
    action that you deem unsafe or if someone is
    working unsafely.
  • Report any such conditions or practices to your
    immediate supervisor as soon as possible.
