BIOPATTERN Grand Vision

• To integrate co-operative research aimed at a
  pan-European approach to coherent and intelligent
  analysis of a citizens bioprofile to make the
  analysis of this bioprofile remotely accessible
  to patients and clinicians and to exploit the
  bioprofile information to combat major disease
  classes.

BIOPATTERN Computing and e-delivery
Requirements

• Bioprofiles will be dynamic, large and
  distributed across multicentres. They would
  include
• data, information and analysis of a persons
  medical condition (e.g. subcellular
  genomic/proteomic information, intermediate scale
  phenomena e.g. EEG and brain imaging, macroscopic
  scale patient records and demographic data).
• Bioprofiles will need to be accessible on-line
  and will require advanced e-delivery
  technologies.
• Computing resources for on-line analysis and
  evaluation of bioprofiles will be needed.
• Remote diagnosis, prognosis and decision support
  will need to be supported.
• Dynamic databases will be needed for bioprofiles
  and examples.

Possible Grid Services that would be required

• On-demand access to fast computing resources to
  meet high computational intensive requirements
• Pervasive and seamless sharing and access to
  software and data between partners of the NoE
• Integration of large, distributed databases to
  allow round the clock access to bioprofiles and
  algorithms
• Exploitation of the Grid infrastructure to meet
  e-delivery service requirements.
