- National Machine Accountants Association was
founded - Constitutional convention held in Chicago
- State of Illinois issues the charter December 26
- Twenty-seven chapters join or form during the
first year of the Association

- The Association goes international with the
admission of Montreal. - 1957
- Membership grows to 12,000
- Full-time executive secretary retained
- 1960
- Establish the Certification in Data Processing
(CDP) professional examination program.

of the Association - Name changed to Data Processing Management
Association (DPMA) - 1968
- Establish the Computer Merit Badge program in
cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America
