Title: EVOKED POTENTIALS IN CHILDREN

1
EVOKED POTENTIALS IN CHILDREN
  • M. Mohammadi MD
  • Professor of Pediatric Neurology, (TUMS)
  • Former Fellow, Clinical Paediatric
    Neurophysiology
  • University College of London
  • GOS Hospital, London, England.

2
DEFINITION
  • A modified type of EEG to detect and monitor tiny
    potentials induced by sensory stimulations.
  • Superb amplification methods
  • Computer based averaging

3
Types of EPs
  • Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials (BAEPs)
  • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEPs)
  • Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEPs)
  • Event Related Potentials (ERPs)

4
BAEPs (Generators)
5
BAEPs
lesion of the lower brainstem
6
BAEPs
7
VEPs
  • Flash VEPs (F-VEPs)
  • Pattern Reversal VEPs (PR-VEPs)

8
VEPs (Generators)
  • Geniculate Bodies
  • Optic Radiations
  • Visual Cortex

9
VEPs
10
Somatosensory EPs
  • SEPs (cortical)
  • SSEPs (spinocortical)

11
SEPs (Generators)
Thalamocortical Projections
