What are sustainable
schools

• Schools that attempt to utilize resources in such
  a way that the resources are not depleted or
  permanently damaged.

Why do I say attempt

• Because, as long as we continue to use
  non-renewable resources, such as fossil fuels
  (oil coal), we cannot say, we are totally
  sustainable.

• In January of last year, under the leadership of
  Mayor Driscoll, the City of Syracuse received an
  SDAT Grant from the American Institute of
  Architects.

• In December of last year, the SDAT team performed
  their assessment and concluded that the City of
  Syracuse and Onondaga County are not on a
  sustainable path of growth.

  implementing the most up to date sustainable
  design practices available.
