Corporations, (aka CFDCs), are part of a national
network of 268 grass-roots economic development
organizations serving rural and Northern
communities.
4Ontario's network of 61 CFDCs, receives financial
support and advice from

- community-based, not-for-profit organizations
- governed by a local, volunteer board of
directors - dedicated to helping local business grow and
succeed.
6STCFDC provides service to communities from
Marten River to Earlton and Elk Lake to Belle
Vallee
7KDCDC provides service to communities between
Englehart and Matheson, and Matachewan to the
Quebec border.

Through Government of Canada financial support,
each CFDC administers a local investment fund.
CFDCs work with small and medium-sized business

- STCFDC KDCDC are regional access point for the
Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre, which
provides - Access to information on a wide range of
business topics e.g. government programs
services, business planning, regulations,
licensing, etc. - Access to a complete business resource library
18Community Economic Development
CFDCs work closely with community partners to
assess local challenges and to look at new ideas
and opportunities that could strengthen their
economies. CFDCs collaborate with a variety of
partners from the public and private sectors to
implement projects or special initiatives
targeted to their communities in areas such as
tourism, entrepreneurship, economic
diversification and community adjustment.
