The problem

• There are economic, social, technical and
  environmental gaps between Hararies living in
  Diaspora and homeland. There is the need to
  bridge these gaps as indicated on
• Current government policy
• Harar Millinnium Celebration
• UN International Organization of Migration
  policies

History

• HIAGI was established because of the online Harar
  Millennium Debates and discussions which have
  shown an information gap between Harar and the
  Diaspora
• Initiated by Mahbub Ibrahim, Khalid Ahmed and
  Salahadin Khairo
• Established in July 2007, Melbourne, Australia.

• Facilitate the process of achieving sustainable
  development in Harar
• help create vibrant Harari communities in
  Ethiopia and overseas through increased
  participation of Hararies and Harar lover in the
  development goals and strategic of Harar.
• Facilitate the process of peaceful coexistence
  among Harari groups and others by delivering
  effective and efficient communications platform.

• The Harar Development Goals (HDG) will be
  derived from the Harari State Medium and Long
  term socio-economic Development Plans and
  Strategic Goals.

HIAGIS strategies

• Create an effective and efficient communication
  platform with Harari and Ethiopian government.
• Assist Harari government in promoting positive
  changes in Harari political, economic and social
  development.
• Create the means and ways of channeling leading
  age science and technology to Harar.
• Lobby governments or non government organization
  to assist Harar and Hararies in their development
  efforts.
• Propose new development ideas/plans/policies to
  Harari government

Short term Targets

• Create panel of Hararis, in Diaspora and Homeland
  Harar, who have interest in the development of
  Harar through our missions and visions
• Create professional circle who are able to
  channel experience and skill to Harar
• Create a platform for providing policy and
  economics advice to Harari Government.

  communicate with Harari leadership unambiguously
  converse through the existing communication
  platform.
• Endorse/praise/compliment and job well-done for
  advancing Harari peoples interests
