Habitat

• Hyenas live in central Africa.
• They live mostly in desert and savanna areas.
• Savannas are flat grassy areas.

Physical Description

• There are 3 main kinds of hyenas.
• They are 28 to 35 inches tall at the shoulder.
• They weigh 90 to100 pounds.

Food and Diet

• Hyenas are carnivores.
• They will eat almost any animal they can catch
  and they even eat dead animals.
• They use their jaws to crush the bones so they
  can eat it.

Predators

• Lions often kill hyenas.
• Lions and hyenas often steal food from each
  other.
• Jackals sometimes steal hyenas food.
