Overview
  • The Atlanta Civic Center, built in 1967, uses
    two (2) 350-ton chillers to cool the building,
    including the 4,600 seat performing arts
    auditorium.
  • An average sized home in Georgia would require
    2-4 tons of cooling.

  • Chillers have an expected life of about twenty
    (20) years.
  • The Civic Center chillers were thirty- seven
    (37) years old!
  • It was time for a replacement.

Energy Conservation Program
  • In 2004, the Energy Conservation Program
    conducted an energy audit of the Atlanta Civic
    Center, one of the City of Atlantas largest
    facilities.
  • The ECP helped the Civic Center select an energy
    efficient, environmentally-friendly chiller.
